Hyde Park comes alive as thousands take part in Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg

The 28th Virgin Active 947 Joburg Ride saw participants push their limits through iconic landmarks and leafy suburbs, as Johannesburg cheered them on… Every pedal of the way.

The much-anticipated 28th edition of the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg has once again transformed the city into a cycling haven, with thousands of riders weaving through Johannesburg’s most iconic landmarks.

Starting and finishing at the FNB Stadium, participants embarked on a thrilling journey that celebrated fitness, community spirit, and the vibrant heartbeat of the city.

Cyclists tackled two major routes, the 97km road race and the 35km short ride, each showcasing the city’s beauty and grit.

The courses featured iconic landmarks, including the M1 Highway, the Nelson Mandela Bridge, and the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit, offering breathtaking views and a true test of endurance.

The leafy suburbs also offered a scenic yet challenging stretch, where determination met celebration.

As the peloton swept through Hyde Park, spectators lined Jan Smuts Avenue and North Road, cheering on riders and soaking up the electric atmosphere.
