Centennial Schools principal reflects on a year of growth, grit, and innovation
As the school wraps up the year, principal Ramgareeb expresses gratitude to the community that kept learning alive through challenges and triumphs.
As the final bell rings on another school year, Centennial Schools principal Joseina Ramgareeb finds herself pausing to take it all in.
Pride, gratitude, and reflection, for her, 2025 was more than a calendar of activities. It was a vivid illustration of resilience, creativity, and a school community willing to meet every challenge head-on.
Ramgareeb described the year as a testament to the resilience, creativity, and dedication of the entire school community, noting how learners lived the school’s vision by reimagining what education can be.

Academic milestones, cultural celebrations, and sporting achievements all painted a picture of a school moving with purpose.
The year wasn’t without its obstacles, and she doesn’t shy away from that.
“We experienced roadblocks, as any school does, but we faced them with transparency and accountability. Every year brings new challenges in education. What matters is how we respond.”
She highlighted the sports teams’ numerous victories, but emphasised something deeper: teamwork, perseverance, and character.
For Ramgareeb, the heart of 2025 lay in growth.
The standout moment was the school’s win in the international Minecraft competition in Malta, which she sees as proof of what happens when play, innovation, and strong teaching intersect.
“It’s more than a trophy. It’s a testament to learning through play, the brilliance of our students, and the dedication of our educators,” she said.
The achievement also underscored how digital tools can build collaboration across borders and nurture skills young people need in a shifting global economy.

To the matric Class of 2025, her message was simple and heartfelt:
“You have made us proud beyond words. Your hard work, imagination, teamwork, and grit have brought you to the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.”
She credited these victories with inspiring the whole school to think bigger, build boldly, and embrace new possibilities through innovative learning.
Ramgareeb also extended deep appreciation to the parents and guardians who supported the school throughout the year.
“Your involvement and trust are the pillars of our success,” she noted.
To learners, she offered gratitude for curiosity, courage, and kindness, adding that they remain the heartbeat of the school.
And she did not forget the staff who keep everything running.
“You are the backbone of our institution, and your dedication does not go unnoticed.”
As the school community heads into the holiday break, Ramgareeb hopes everyone carries forward the lessons and spirit of 2025.
Her final message was one of hope and anticipation: “Enjoy the well-deserved break, and I look forward to welcoming you all back with renewed energy and purpose in 2026.”
