As communities across Johannesburg slow down for the festive season, Ward 81 councillor Joanne Horwitz shared a message of gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to accountable local governance.

Addressing residents, Horwitz thanked the community for its ongoing engagement and willingness to actively participate in shaping local decision-making.

“I send warm, festive, and end-of-year greetings to the wonderful community of Ward 81. As we wrap up the year, I want to thank each of you for your engagement, your feedback, and joining with me in committing to building a community that seeks accountability, transparency, and a focus on bringing real service delivery, even where the city does not yet support our efforts.”

She emphasised the importance of public participation in strengthening democratic processes, noting that resident involvement played a vital role in ensuring that governance reflected lived realities.

“Your voices and participation strengthen our democracy and will soon help ensure that decisions made in our city really do reflect the needs of the people who live here.”

Looking ahead to the festive break, she encouraged residents to prioritise rest and reconnection while remaining hopeful about the year to come.

She concluded by thanking residents for holding leadership accountable and contributing to a values-driven community.

“Thank you for continuing to hold leaders to high standards, and for helping to build a community driven by fairness, integrity, and progress,” Horwitz said, wishing residents a safe and meaningful festive season.
