Bramley View Residents Association ushers in 2026 with community safety and unity top of mind

With a foundation built in 2025, the Bramley View Residents Association is focused on security upgrades, maintenance, and fostering neighbourly connections this year.

As the Bramley community welcomes the new year, the Bramley View Residents Association (BVRA) reflected on a transformative 2025 and sets its sights on building a safer, more connected neighbourhood in 2026.

Mafika Shabangu, residents’ association spokesperson, said, “2025 was a year of remarkable growth for BVRA.

We registered as a company and with the Community Schemes Ombud Service, held a successful AGM, hosted our Security Indaba both online and in person, and strengthened partnerships with CPF, SAPS, local security companies, business forums, our ward councillor Joanne Horwitz and the broader Bramley community.”

Among the association’s key achievements last year were:

  • Conducting a Mandela Day drive to support the community.
  • Launching a streetlight campaign to improve safety.
  • Mediating social disputes and petitioning against a concerning housing development.
  • Capturing 80% of residents’ contact details and essential residential statistics.
  • Introducing the Dustbin Sticker Campaign to aid property identification in case of theft.
  • Officially launching the membership programme and recruiting a dedicated sales team.

Looking ahead to 2026, the association plans to implement its full security infrastructure, including cameras, boom gates, and access control.

The association will also begin quarterly community clean-ups, continue ongoing maintenance projects, launch a branding and outreach calendar, and install a strategic wall closure.

These initiatives are designed to protect residents, improve the quality of life, and foster unity within Bramley.

Shabangu added, “As we usher in the New Year, let us remember the simple actions that keep our community safe, securing our properties, being mindful on the roads, and checking in on our neighbours. Together, we can make Bramley a safe, vibrant, and united community.”
