Sandton water meters to be closed overnight as Johannesburg Water manages demand
Johannesburg Water will temporarily close Sandton water meters on Thursday night, affecting several suburbs as part of ongoing demand management efforts.
Johannesburg Water has announced that Sandton water meters will be shut overnight on January 15, as part of its water demand management programme aimed at ensuring fair distribution across the city.
The closure will take place from 19:00 on January 15 until 03:00 on January 16.

According to the utility, the intervention is necessary to manage high demand and stabilise the system.
Affected areas include Linbro Park, Marlboro, Illovo, Bryanston and Morningside, along with their associated reservoirs and towers.
Areas supplied through direct feeds, including Linbro Park and Marlboro, are expected to experience immediate interruptions, while reservoir-fed areas may see declining water levels over time.

Johannesburg Water cautioned that restoration to direct feeds may take several hours once the system is reopened.
Residents are encouraged to make alternative arrangements where possible and to use water sparingly.
The utility said contingency measures are in place to provide alternative water supply if required and urged the public to follow its official platforms for updates.
