Hyde Park High School U15 cricket team makes history

Hyde Park High School made history on October 12 as two young female cricketeers joined its U15 boys’ team to take on St David’s Marist Inanda in a fixture.

According to the school communication’s secretary Avril Wright, the decision proved fruitful as the girls, Tanishka Kamrajh and Inam Bantsawe, put on a memorable display.

“Tanishka [took] a wicket catch against a highly rated St David’s team. Furthermore, Palita Gounden, a Grade 10 girl, also played a key role for the team as the official scorer for the match.”

The school congratulated the two learners and scorer for their fearless display and courage on the field, calling on more girls to join the game with the intention of having a fully-fledged competitive girls’ team.
