Gallo Manor and Wendywood residents encouraged to join safety drive
A local protection committee is encouraging community involvement through an upcoming Street Captain initiative and partnership with private security.
Residents of Gallo Manor and Wendywood are encouraged to take a more active role in neighbourhood safety as the Gallo Manor Wendywood Community Protection (GMWCP) expands its community involvement.
The association hosted a community day at Umtata Park in Gallo Manor, allowing residents to meet committee members and security provider Fidelity ADT, discuss concerns, and learn more about its initiatives.

GMWCP committee member Peter Ochola said the event aimed to bring residents together and strengthen efforts to improve safety and security.
“We’re having an amazing community day where residents come out to meet our service provider Fidelity ADT, to spend time with each other and to understand what we’re trying to do to enhance our safety and security,” he said.
Strengthening community participation
The committee is also working towards launching a Street Captain programme, which will allow volunteers to help raise concerns and address neighbourhood issues. Ochola encouraged residents to get involved, saying the committee wanted to reach as many people as possible.
Committee member Anne Erasmus said the initiative formed part of broader efforts to strengthen community participation. Residents interested in volunteering or raising concerns can contact the GMWCP committee to learn more about its work.
