Dumping season in Bryanston ends for now
Ward councillor of Ward 103, Lynda Shackleford, addresses the issue of illegal dumping and shares progress of eradicating the issue in the Bryanston area.
After a month of the erection of two illegal dumping signs on Hobart Road near the William Nicol Drive bus stop, Ward 103 councillor Lynda Shackleford gave an update.
“So far the signs have been working in bringing a stop to the madness. We haven’t had any illegal dumping since the signs went up. We’re going to have to be diligent over the course of the next month or two when builders come back. I don’t doubt that we’ll have a quiet December, but once the new year begins we’re going to have to be vigilant,” said Shackleford.

As illegal dumping had been at an all-time high in Bryanston and Rivonia, Shackleford had made it her ultimate duty to reduce the criminal act.
Through a collaboration with the Johannesburg Roads Agency, Pikitup and local security company Community Active Protection, the area has so far been free from dumping since November 4.
