Sandton fashion designers for Fashion Week announced

Fashion Week Studio announced the four fashion designers who will exhibit their designs at Paris Fashion Week in September.

Fashion Week Studio Inc. announced the four South African fashion design brands that will be representing South Africa at the Milan and Paris Fashion Week events in 2023. The announcement was commemorated by a prestigious event held in Sandown on August 30.

The four brands announced by Fashion Week Studio’s founder Nathanaelle Hottois Galetlole are: Don Design; Belle Togs; House of Decorum; and Molebatsi.

Born to take over the fashion industry is Sandton-based modl Michelle Lyle, who attended the Fashion Week Studio event on August 30.

Three of the four fashion brands announced are operated by Sandton based designers. Don Design is owned by Sandown resident, hip-hop musician and fashion designer, Tshediso Mokoko; Belle Togs is owned by Hyde-Park resident and fashion visionary, Keke Moeca; and House of Decorum, owned by Bryanston-based fashion couple Pat and Rethabile Mokgatle.

“I want to see African fashion overseas being represented by the people who own the culture,” Galetlole said. “I want to remarket and position African luxury brands as superior quality and placing them on the international market. This is going to create a platform for African designers to really get their shine and start profiting from the culture that is being sold overseas.”

Galetlole also unveiled the Fashion Week-Studio Pan-African Luxury Group presentation, detailing the company’s plan towards alleviating poverty and unemployment in Africa through the promotion of fashion designers who provide quality, and who promote their culture through their art of fashion.

“I have announced this to the New York market – and we are getting a lot of excited responses to this,” Galetlole said. “What I also have come to realise is that, unfortunately, a lot of this market demand has been met by other countries like China – who are more set up to provide [for] this market demand.”
