SPARK Rivonia High School showcase cultural splendour for Heritage Month

The celebration of Heritage Month has created a conducive environment for all people to embrace and celebrate what was inherited or bequeathed to us by our forebears.

As South Africa celebrated Heritage Day on September 24, SPARK Rivonia High embarked on a week-long cultural journey adorned in vibrant fabrics and jewellery showcasing our rainbow nation.

Teachers and learners took on the role of storytellers, sharing anecdotes about their heritage and learning about that of their peers.

Ketso Motsepe, a learner who went all out in her outfit said, “I am excited to be wearing my traditional attire and sharing my culture with my friends! It’s more than just clothing; it’s a piece of who I am.”

She added that she was thrilled to offer her peers a glimpse into her heritage and what it means to her.

According to Nkazimulo Zitha, head of achievement at SPARK Schools, celebrating South African heritage is not confined to an annual occasion.

“It is woven into the very fabric of SPARK Schools’ education system. “Our classrooms are not just places of learning; they are spaces where unity is celebrated and diversity is embraced every day.”
