Positive impact of the undergraduate’s info evening in Sandton

The undergraduate's info evening helps students outline the next part of their educational life.

The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton’s recent information evening was attended by 177 prospective students and their parents; all of them committed to getting as much information about academic programmes, student support services, and campus life as possible.

According to Tyla Joubert, the senior student advisor at the college, the turnout at the two information evenings exceeded expectations.

“Engaging with the excited prospective students was encouraging. To experience them asking all the right questions that would lead them to the correct tertiary choices showed how committed they are to making the right decisions regarding their future careers.”

Joubert added that engagements with the academic teams, student advisors, and heads of the schools included the school of management, school of law, school of information technology, programme managers, the career centre, as well as various student committees.

Ethan Harris, a prospective school of information technology student, said, “The presentations by the programme managers were great, as these allowed us to ask pertinent questions. The answers will go a long way towards ensuring that the correct qualification for the desired career path is chosen.”

He added that something that stood out for him was that the programme managers are industry experts who could align theory with the application for him this made the qualification that he is interested in real.

“I am excited to start my tertiary education at the IIE’s Varsity College Sandton.”
