Watch: Outrage over another unauthorised billboard at Winnie Mandela and Ballyclare

Illegal outdoor advertising is increasingly becoming a problem in Sandton.

Growing concern over an unauthorised billboard being erected at the corner of Winnie Mandela Drive and Ballyclare Drive sparked outrage among residents on November 8.

Leonardo Lupini, a concerned Bryanston resident, has called on authorities to take immediate action after witnessing disturbing developments at the site. Lupini, along with Ward 103 councillor Lynda Shackleford, attempted to intervene in this matter on November 5.

They asked the contractor on-site to provide the necessary documentation, including a required wayleave. It turns out that the contractor did not have those. This lack of paperwork violates regulations governing such constructions. The Lupini and Shackleford called on JMPD to come and assist them in this matter.

The Sandton Chronicle waited for JMPD’s arrival. On their inspection, they found that the contractors did not have the necessary documentation. As a result, they were instructed to pack up their tools and leave.
