First day jitters, local schools welcome young minds with open arms

It's a fresh start for Grade 1 learners at Bryanston Primary School, Sandton School Group and Grayston Preparatory School.

On a bright and cheerful morning, Bryanston Primary School, Sandton School Group and Grayston Preparatory School warmly welcomed its new Grade 1 learners for their first day of school.

The air buzzed with excitement as eager young learners, adorned in crisp uniforms, clutched their colourful backpacks and shyly clung to their parents’ hands. Friendly teachers greeted them with bright smiles and cheerful waves, ready to guide them into a world of discovery and adventure.

The school’s vibrant playground echoed with laughter as new friendships began to blossom, setting the stage for a year filled with learning, growth, and unforgettable memories.

Bryanston Primary School principal Morné Marx said, “I am looking forward to the fantastic 2025 and our year focus is to make education fun so that learners will enjoy being at school parents love dropping their children and teachers enjoy teaching.”

Sandton School Group executive head and owner Nadya Katz said, “We are excited to embark on this new journey with our 2025 Grade 1s. This year is a year of kindness, good luck.”

Grayston Preparatory School Ché Mckay said, “We are excited for the first day at school and the year that lies ahead. Our theme is stronger together and we are looking forward to their individual growth and sense of belonging.”
