Coming this May, the Laugh Africa Comedy Festival promises more top comedians from across Africa and beyond.
The Laugh Africa Comedy Festival is back for 2025, promising an even bigger, bolder, and funnier experience. Taking place from May 2 to 4 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, this year’s festival builds on the success of 2024, expanding its lineup and showcasing top comedic talent from across Africa and beyond.
Headlined by a surprise international act, hoping to top Eddie Griffin’s explosive performance from last year, the festival includes a star-studded list of local and African comedians. Felix Hlophe, Trevor Gumbi, Celeste Ntuli, Nina Hastie, Kagiso ‘KG’ Mokgadi, and Robbie Collins are just a few of the acts set to bring the laughs.

Joining them are international comedy heavyweights, including Salvado Ombokolo from Uganda and Eric Lu Savali from Kenya, adding a rich continental flair to the festivities.

The 2025 festival will feature three days of hilarious performances, with comedy styles ranging from sharp observational humour to bold satire.

Highlights include a roast of a prominent South African media personality and an international headliner performing across two nights.

The festival has also been nominated for Best Comedy Festival/Show at the 12th Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards, further cementing its place as a major event in South African entertainment.
