Diverse sectors meet future talent at The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton career fair
Students at The IIE's Varsity College Sandton gained invaluable industry insights and networking opportunities during their recent career fair, enhancing their readiness for the world of work and exploring diverse career pathways.
In a move to bridge the gap between education and industry, The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton hosted its annual career fair, providing students with direct access to leading professionals from various sectors.
The event aimed to equip students with realistic expectations and practical guidance as they prepare to enter the competitive job market.
During the fair, students engaged in meaningful conversations with industry experts across a wide range of fields, including finance, law, technology, and education.

These interactions not only offered insights into different career pathways; they also introduced part-time, graduate, and internship opportunities, broadening students horizons beyond traditional boundaries.
A key highlight of the event was the emphasis on networking skills, a critical component for career success. The fair reinforced the importance of being curious and proactive, encouraging students to show up for their future and make the most of every opportunity.
The career fair also featured a LinkedIn and CV review station, hosted by the campus’ career services team and led by career services specialist Cherlee Engelbrecht.
This station provided personalised guidance to help students refine their CVs and strengthen their professional online presence, ensuring they are well-prepared to impress potential employers.

Zawadi Luke, a third-year Bachelor of Laws student, shared her experience. “I loved that, as a Bachelor of Laws student, the career fair did not limit me to engaging with law firms exclusively. I was able to network with a diverse range of companies.
“This showed that one can fit into any company, and that the opportunities in my future career journey are endless.”
The event was attended by representatives from prominent companies, such as Standard Bank, Blue Label, OVC, Dante Personnel Recruitment, CDH Legal, Steyn IP, Hollywoodbets, BankServ Africa, PKF Ocktagon, Signa, Nexia SAB&T, PPS, Geeks4Learning, and Labournet.
