Passionate violinist Taetum Henry triumphs with double gold awards
Taetum Henry recently showcased her extraordinary skills at the Trinity Eisteddfod, performing three challenging pieces, earning double gold and a diploma status.
Taetum Henry, a Grade 11 learner at Curro Rivonia, recently participated in the esteemed Trinity Eisteddfod, an event that attracts talented young musicians from across the region.
Taetum performed three violin pieces, two of which she received double gold medals with scores above 85% and received a diploma status for her third piece.
“I felt both relieved and shocked when I received my awards. I had worked so hard, and to see that reflected in my marks, especially since I was competing against many well-achieved musicians, was incredible.”

Taetum started playing the violin at the age of seven, inspired by an opportunity at school. “From that moment, I fell in love with classical music and the violin,” she said.
Over the past decade, her passion has only grown stronger, leading her to prepare intensively for her Eisteddfod performances.
For the competition, she chose three pieces representing different eras: a Baroque piece from the 1600s, a Romantic piece from the 1800s, and a modern piece from the 1900s. “I picked these because they were challenging and exciting to learn. It pushed me to improve and keep my skills sharp.”
“Receiving the double gold and diploma made me realize that I can overcome obstacles and play any piece I set my mind to.”

Her motivation comes largely from her violin teacher, who she describes as her role model. “She inspires me to be the best musician I can be and has helped me discover that violin is my true passion,” Taetum said.
Looking ahead, Taetum dreams of studying music at university. “My goal is to pursue a Bachelor of Music and eventually become a music teacher. I want to inspire others to find their passion, just as I have.”
