Sandton SPCA vehicle crisis threatens animal welfare efforts
Join the fight against animal cruelty, help Sandton SPCA repair or replace their vehicles and ensure no animal is left without rescue.
The Sandton SPCA is calling on the community’s compassion and support to help sustain its vital inspectorate department.
This dedicated team of inspectors plays a crucial role in rescuing, protecting, and offering a second chance to animals suffering from cruelty, neglect, and abuse across 176 suburbs. However, their ability to respond effectively is now under threat.
Sandton SPCA general manager Stephen Maila said: “Our inspector vehicles, the lifelines of their daily operations, are in a dire state. They are constantly breaking down, dangerously close to collapse, and no longer able to reliably reach animals in distress.

“Sandton SPCA’s inspectorate department is on the frontlines of animal welfare, conducting rescues, enforcing laws, and providing medical care to animals saved from abuse. These efforts include emergency response to cruelty reports, raids on illegal practices, and proactive welfare inspections, activities that are impossible without dependable transport.”
The SPCA appeals for donations to help repair or replace their vehicles. “These vehicles are more than just transport; they are the difference between life and death for many animals.

“We are reaching out to our community to help us keep these vital services running. Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to ensuring that our inspectors can continue their critical work without interruption.”
