Sandton SPCA needs your help to keep vehicles running

Sandton SPCA’s inspectorate department faces a dire vehicle crisis that threatens their ability to respond to animal emergencies.

Sandton SPCA appeals for the community and compassionate donors to step in to keep their inspectorate department mobile.

The department, which plays a crucial role in rescuing and protecting vulnerable animals across 176 suburbs, is currently battling a dire vehicle crisis.

Sandton SPCA general manager Stephen Maila said their rescue vehicles, essential for responding swiftly to reports of cruelty, neglect, and abuse, are in advanced disrepair. “Constant breakdowns and the risk of vehicle failure threaten to halt our ability to reach animals in need. Without reliable transportation, the organisation’s capacity to respond to emergency calls and conduct welfare checks is compromised.

“Sandton SPCA’s inspectorate department is on the frontlines of animal welfare, conducting rescues, enforcing laws, and providing medical care to animals saved from abuse. These efforts include emergency response to cruelty reports, raids on illegal practices, and proactive welfare inspections, activities that are impossible without dependable transport.”

Maila pleads for community members and potential sponsors to come forward and help fund vehicle repairs or replacements. “We are making an urgent appeal for donations to keep our inspectors mobile. Every minute matters when an animal is suffering, and your support could literally be the difference between life and death.”
