Ward 81 urged to note Pikitup festive changes as collections resume

After Christmas Day disruptions, residents are seeing waste collections happening around Ward 81, but only put out your bin when a collection is confirmed.

Residents in Ward 81 are reminded that Pikitup waste collection services were suspended on Christmas Day in line with the city’s festive season schedule.

While an earlier notice indicated that households scheduled for Thursday collections would only be serviced again on January 1, reports from the community suggest that Pikitup crews have been moving through parts of the ward on December 26 to catch up on missed rounds.

According to residents, trucks were spotted collecting in areas including Lane Road and Da Costa, indicating that waste removal services are currently underway despite the earlier advisory.

Households are encouraged to stay alert to activity in their streets and put bins out only when collection is confirmed in their area.

Residents who have already placed their bins outside are advised to bring them back inside when not needed to reduce the risk of theft during the holiday period.
