As 2026 begins, Ward 81 councillor Joanne Horwitz has shared a message of hope and aspiration.
She encouraged residents to enter the new year with clarity, optimism, and a shared sense of responsibility for their community and city.
Addressing residents at the start of the year, Horwitz highlighted the importance of reflecting on personal and collective goals.
“As 2026 begins, may we all enter the year with optimism, and the clarity of what we wish to see take place to improve our lives, grow the community we live in, and move our city toward the fairness, accountability, and progress we all deserve.”

She described the new year as an opportunity for renewed commitment to values that support strong, resilient communities. “Let this be a time for setting new goals. For embracing new ideas. For recommitting ourselves to holding by values that shape healthy, thriving communities.”
She added that collaboration and shared effort remain central to achieving meaningful change at a local level. “May the year ahead bring opportunities for positive growth in every way.
“May it bring meaningful collaboration and renewed hope for what we can accomplish together.”
Closing her message, Horwitz wished residents a year defined by purpose and steady progress. “Wishing you a steady, uplifting, and purpose-filled 2026.”
