The expo forms part of a nationwide initiative aimed at educating, motivating, and inspiring South African high school learners as they prepare for life after matric. For many learners, deciding what career path to follow can be overwhelming, especially in a country facing high youth unemployment levels. According to the representative of the expo at the event, over the past 25 years, the Rocking Future Career Expos have connected learners with tertiary institutions, career advisors, and educational resources to help them make informed decisions about their futures.

During the event, learners attended an engaging live presentation by the Rocking Future team, which focused on career guidance, study opportunities, and practical advice for life after school. Learners also had the chance to interact directly with representatives from several private tertiary institutions exhibiting at the expo. “These roadshows aim to help learners discover careers that match their interests, strengths, and ambitions while encouraging them to pursue opportunities with confidence.”

The organisers said the expo was designed to create meaningful conversations and experiences that leave learners feeling inspired rather than uncertain about their future. “Learners who could not attend the roadshow in person can still access career guidance and educational information online through Swiwel, an immersive digital career platform available nationwide,” said the organisers.
