Crawford swimmer reaches national heights

The junior squad is known to help identify athletes who can deliver podium finishes at various senior international competitions.

Crawford Sandton swimmer Kairah George goes national. The Grade 8 learner was recently selected to join the National Open Water Junior squad for 2020/21.

The selection comes after Kairah took home the bronze medal for the 3km swim at the South African Open Water Nationals in March this year. The junior squad is known to help identify athletes who can deliver podium finishes at various senior international competitions, including the 2024 Olympic Games and beyond.

Kairah has always been a motivated swimmer ever since her journey in the pool at the age of three at Libra Swimming Academy. “She quickly progressed through the various levels to become water safe” said her mother Senamphe.

With countless days of motivation, hard work and dedication, Kairah has gone on to become one of the top-performing female juniors in the country.

The young swimmer looks forward to getting back to competing in the pool.
