Prodigy equestrian wins in her class
BRYANSTON – The 14-year-old recently gave a stellar performance at the first South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) Eventing Qualifier of the year.
Bryanston High School‘s very own equestrian prodigy Madison Polchet and her horse, Phantom of the Opera, continue to jump to new heights.
The 14-year-old recently gave a stellar performance at the first South African National Equestrian Schools Association (Sanesa) Eventing Qualifier of the year.
Eventing has three disciplines and with her combined scores, Madison won her class. “I was thrilled with the result and my horse, Phantom of the Opera, was brilliant. I am working on my speed in the cross-country phase as that was the one thing I really want to improve on.”
Even though it was only her second show of this kind, Madison is excited for the season ahead. “Up until last year I was very focused on showjumping with my pony, Chilli Bean, but now that I’ve started eventing with Phantom and we’ve both enjoyed it so much, this will be my main focus.
“[I want] to get all the way to Sanesa Nationals this year.”
In the meantime, Madison continues to work hard with her coach, Shea Wright, who she has lessons with every week.
