Kyalami Nine Hours countdown begins with star-studded launch

As November approaches, excitement is building for what is set to be a spectacular weekend of speed, adrenaline, and family-friendly entertainment at Kyalami.

South Africa is gearing up for an unforgettable motorsport event as the South African Endurance Series (SAES) officially launched the Nine Hours of Kyalami.

The launch held at Tempo Luxury Restaurant Sunninghill in Rivonia Crossing, set the stage for the grand race scheduled for November 29–30.

Hosted by motorsport figures Clauie-Grace Mpanza and Prince Ndiweni, the launch welcomed key stakeholders, government officials, and fans, all eager to support this landmark event.

SAES CEO Wayne Riddell highlighted the race’s importance in positioning South Africa on the global motorsport map.

“The Nine Hours of Kyalami is a celebration of passion, resilience, and the spirit of motorsport,” he said, promising a world-class experience for both racers and spectators.

Deputy Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Peace Mabe, also spoke at the event, underscoring the government’s support.

“This event is pivotal for promoting sports tourism and economic growth,” she noted, emphasising its role in elevating South Africa in international motorsport.

SAES chairman Xolile Letlaka, a seasoned racer and founder of Into Africa Racing, further discussed the growth of endurance racing in the country.

The support of influential figures such as Vic Maharaj, CEO of Motorsport SA, added weight to the occasion, highlighting Kyalami’s role in advancing South African motorsport.

In addition to the thrilling races, families can expect activities from a Kids Zone with jumping castles and face painting to a Flea Market and a go-kart track.
For the first time, SAES will host a unique Virtual vs Real competition, where more than 100 SIM racing teams will race alongside real drivers in a synchronised nine-hour event.
