Discovery Girls Festival inspires young footballers at Rivonia Primary
The Discovery Girls Festival brought together young footballers from across Johannesburg, celebrating talent, teamwork, and healthy competition at Rivonia Primary School.
The Discovery Girls Festival took place at Rivonia Primary School on May 30, bringing together young footballers from schools across Johannesburg for a day of competition, teamwork, and fun.
The festival forms part of the Discovery school’s soccer programme, which is celebrating 16 years of promoting health, wellness, and youth development through football.

Established in 2009, the programme has grown into one of Johannesburg’s leading youth sports development initiatives, reaching more than 860 schools and over 100 000 participants since its inception. In addition to creating structured playing opportunities for primary and high school boys and girls, the programme has also invested in developing the game by training more than 10 000 coaches.

Beyond football, Discovery school’s soccer aims to equip young people with valuable life skills, including leadership, discipline, sportsmanship, and personal growth, helping them succeed both on and off the field.
