The Boikanyo Bug

Every year, thousands of children in Southern Africa die due to preventable and treatable heart defects and diseases. On 18th July – Madiba Day, the Round Table Golden East 181 will leave Johannesburg and drive a 1972 Volkswagen Beetle, better known as the Boikanyo Bug, all the way to Romania, in aid of raising funds and awareness for The Boikanyo Foundation.

The Boikanyo Foundation is a registered Non-Profit Organisation that provides funding for life-saving heart surgeries for children in Southern Africa. To date, the foundation has raised R13.4 million to fund more than 100 open-heart surgeries.

So, what?s ?The Boikanyo Bug? all about you ask…
Round Table Golden East 181 will be driving a 1972 VW Beetle from the Cape Town, through Africa, to Brasnov in Romania, where it will cross the finish line at the Round Table International World Meeting, being held at Dracula’s Castle, in Transylvania, Romania, on August 24, 2019, to be auctioned.
The car will be crossing 12 countries, including Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Egypt, Turkey, Bulgaria and ending up in Romania, covering a distance in excess of 14 500km, and spreading the Boikanyo message and raising funds along the way.
