A food and wine pairing experience to enjoy

FOURWAYS – The recent food and wine pairing event at Montecasino’s Palazzo Hotel's Rosa Restaurant was nothing short of a star-studded affair.

 

The event was attended by various TV personalities such as Lunga Shabalala and Sinazo Yolwa, as well as radio personalities such as Katlego Mabusela of Kaya FM. It also attracted the likes of celebrities such as Big Brother’s Blue Mbombo and Mbali Nkosi, and South African model Naomi Noinyane.

The restaurant was the perfect setting and it wowed guests. However, it was not the highlight of the event. Montecasino brought out its impressive wine collection paired with deliciously prepared and presented meals.

Four pairing stations were available where each wine was strategically paired with complementary food.

Guests were taken through each station by Tsogo Sun Group sommelier Miguel Chan and chef Benny Masekwameng. The wines were acquired at the 2014 annual Nedbank Cape Winemakers Guild Auction and Nederburg Auction.

Chan said food and wine pairing is something Montecasino prides themselves in. “The main concept behind the pairing is that certain elements such as texture and flavour, in both food and wine, interact with each other. Finding the right combination of these elements heightens the dining experience,” said Chan.
