Theatre brings Mandela to life
SANDTON - The Auto & General Theatre on the Square is proud to announce the Johannesburg production of the fabulous Making Mandela which will run from 14 September to 3 October.
Owner and manager at the theatre, Daphne Kuhn said, “Making Mandela is the story of what influenced a rural boy to become a global legend. The production is an imaginative journey through the childhood of Nelson Mandela featuring colourful characters vividly portrayed in beautiful masks, with physical performances supported by emotive sound design and theatrical styling.”
Written by Nick Warren and Jenine Collott, with the latter handling direction and design, the play has enjoyed unanimous acclaim with sold-out seasons at the South African State Theatre. The play was originally produced by KBT and Hello Elephant.
After a successful run at the Grahamstown National Arts Festival, the play, which Business Day called “An unmitigated delight to watch”, will finally make its debut in Johannesburg.
