Multidisciplinary parade launches Operation Shanela2
Operation Shanela 2 officially launched at the N3 weighbridge with a multidisciplinary parade, focusing on crime prevention, roadblocks, and enhanced policing in Heidelberg precincts.
A major multidisciplinary parade was held at the N3 weighbridge on April 2 to mark the official start of Operation Shanela 2.
The operation, running under the theme ‘Paseka’, focuses on the Heidelberg policing precincts. The day began with a prayer and a formal reading of the SAPS code of conduct to all participating members.
Parade commander Lieutenant Colonel Monene welcomed all teams, and Brigadier Ndwandwe provided a detailed overview of the operation’s objectives, targets, and anticipated outcomes. The brigadier highlighted the importance of heightened alertness during roadblocks.
He urged officers to maintain constant vigilance for their own personal safety and to look out for their colleagues while on duty. He also thanked the members for their dedication to making the operation a success.
The Sedibeng District Commissioner, Major General Nkhensani Mukhwevho, reiterated the importance of professional conduct and ethical behaviour. She reminded officers to operate as a cohesive team and maintain a high level of professionalism when interacting with the community.
Other key activities included thorough vehicle searches and stop-and-search procedures.
