ORANGE FARM – Three administration staffers at a local clinic are behind bars after allegedly stealing medication and selling it to a patient for R500.

The trio was arrested on August 27 following a complaint about missing medication at the clinic.

According to police, Orange Farm SAPS received the complaint at about 15:00 and rushed to the clinic.

Upon arrival, officers were informed by a staff member that medication had allegedly disappeared from the dispensary.

The drama unfolded when clinic security guards allegedly caught a person leaving the facility in possession of the missing medication.

Police investigations allegedly led them to three administration clerks, who were accused of selling the medication to the individual.

Orange Farm police spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi said the individual allegedly paid one of the clerks R500 for medication reportedly used for the termination of pregnancy.

“The three suspects were immediately arrested and detained at Orange Farm Police Station on charges of theft of medication,” said Motsapi.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Vereeniging Magistrates’ Court soon, where they will face theft charges.

The investigation is continuing.
