Former Orlando Pirates speedily forward Bennet Chenne and former Kaizer Chiefs darling Abia “Soul Provider” Nale were among the interesting spectators in the stands who enjoyed every moment of action watching these future Bafana Bafana stars.

The two finalists received soccer kits, soccer balls, and medals while third-placed Yizo Yizo FC received bronze medals for their effort. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, ACT Ward 23 Sports Coordinators Jabu Khuzwayo and Teboho Thafene said the tournament aimed to revive sports in the area.

“We wanted to play this tournament in Bophelong but as we all know, the stadium is closed for reconstruction hence we took the game to Cecil Oldridge Park.  We plan another tournament soon to include other sporting codes like netball. As ACT Ward 23 Sports and Recreation Coordinators, we want to thank all the participating teams and the parents for their support. We also want to thank the Department of Sports for donating trophies and medals,” said Khuzwayo and Thafene.

Chenene said he was stunned by the kind of football these u/15 boys displayed on the day. He said there is no doubt that Vaal has talent.

“These boys were unbelievable and I do not doubt that the future looks great for them if they develop properly. But I do not doubt that they are in the capable hands watching them playing,” said Chenene.
