Spiritual Crime Prevention Unit host GBV campaign on Mother’s Day
After an emotional moment, Sergeant Molefi advised the congregation to stand together in prayer for the fight for domestic violence.
SEBOKENG. – The Sebokeng SAPS Social Crime Prevention in collaboration with Spiritual Crime Prevention, hosted a Gender Based Violence (GBV) awareness campaign at St Timothy Methodist Church in Zone 14, Sebokeng on Sunday, Mother’s Day.

Sergeant Maria Molefi introduced the awareness campaign in honour of all the mothers. She also educated the community members about different types of domestic violence and informed them about the Victim Friendly Facility (VFC) where the victims can be assisted. The Department of Correctional Service and the Crime Prevention Traffic Wardens (CPTWs) assisted Sebokeng SAPS in making this day successful.

Sergeant Maria Letshele of SAPS Sedibeng District was the guest of honour and educated the community members about sexual assault, Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and how she, herself, survived abuse. As a victim and a survivor, she was brave enough to give her testimony on how she overcame abuse.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane said that after an emotional moment, Sergeant Molefi advised the congregation to stand together in prayer for the fight for domestic violence.
Reverend Tolashe from St Timothy Methodist Church (Zone 14) appreciated the visit from Sebokeng SAPS and requested that the campaign be introduced to other churches in the Sedibeng District.
