That question might sound abnormal but… that is the concern of informal residents who have spent more than 15 years in the ‘promised land.’
The Member of Legislature (Gauteng MPL) of the Economic Freedom Fighters – Patrick Sindane – insists that residents demand documents that prove the land belongs to them – also that it had been purchased by the government.
“The question might sound abnormal but it’s a fact,” he said, “that people cannot afford to be slapped across the face (lied to). The truth needs to be told,” said Sindane. “If there’s a claim for purchase of the land, show us the figures, IQ numbers and the map.”
He added that the government always mentioned development – “without a date.”
“Service delivery must be tangible,” he said:
“Boiketlong has been placed in permanent poverty. Chapter 2 in the Bill of Rights of the South African constitution states clearly that everyone has the right to free water and electricity.”
He told Ster that he had approached the MEC for Community Safety to help find the missing Papi Tobias (48). The man was reported missing two month ago but he has disappeared without a trace.
Sindane said the MEC has promised to escalate the matter to the high provincial commissioner for further investigation. This comes after the community took to the streets to march to the office of the Police General Max Masha. They demanded station commissioner Brigadier Jan Scheepers be suspended for further investigation.
They allege that he is implicated in the kidnapping of the victim.
