‘I know all the police personnel who stole my money’

They first searched his house looking for illegal cigarettes.
After they found nothing, he said, they assaulted him for no apparent reason. The incident happened at around 11:00 on July 28. The victim alleged that he was detained in the police bakkie before being released a few minutes later:
“I know all the police personnel who stole my money.”
He took things further by opening a case of assault and theft at the police station.
Some foreign national businesspeople in the district said they had had enough of the brutality. A foreign businessman who wants to stay anonymous said they were thinking of packing up and leaving,
“We have had enough of xenophobic attacks. Every time some of the police officials get hungry, foreigners are the first victims focused on.”
Business-people that include Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and Ethiopians are busy drafting a petition for the office of President Jacob Zuma and the National Commissioner of Police. They allege they have been turned into victims of circumstances,
“We have run out of ideas on how and where to report escalating crime to our businesses.”
Police Captain Fikile Funda has confirmed that a case of GBH and theft of R15 000 is being investigated. “The police are gathering all necessary information. Currently, no arrests have been made,” said Funda.
