Riverbend house break-ins escalate

VEREENIGING. - Vereeniging Police Spokesperson Captain Fikile Funda alerts the community of the recent high number of house break-in reports coming from the Riverbend area.

Funda further warns the community about the escalating number of stolen vehicles in the Three River area, adding that residents must be more cautious.

“Theft out of motor vehicles is also going up in the cbd, it is against this background that we are saying people coming to do business in the cbd must not display their jewellery or leave their valuables unattended people passing can see them.”
Funda further reports that a total of 52 people were arrested for various crimes this week. “Five people were arrested for shoplifting, six for possession of drugs, one for common assault, twenty nine for being undocumented, two for drunken driving, one for theft, four for attempted business brak-in,one for malicious damage to property, one for intimidation and one for sexual harassment”
Funda concludes, adding that all the arrested persons will appear in the Vereeniging magistrate court soon.
