SHARPEVILLE.- Thabang Khobotho, popularly known as ‘Zorba Sax Live ‘, the soulful saxophonist behind the viral Ngiyeza saxophone cover, is one of the upcoming saxophonists destined to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry.
Apart from being a saxophonist, Khobotho is also a songwriter and youth teacher.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Khobotho said that after struggling to find a music school, he decided to sing in church.

He said this is where he found his passion for music. He told Sedibeng Ster that the church had a brass band, but there was no saxophone. But this didn’t stop Khobotho from pursuing his love for the saxophone.
He said he decided to go all out to learn the instrument himself, and today he is one of the best saxophonists in Vaal.
Khobotho has shared the stage with high-profile musicians such as Mafikizola, Don Laka, Lira, Tshepiso Motle, Sello Malete, Bhudaza and Kommanda Obbs, to mention a few.
To add feathers to his hat, Khobotho performed at high-profile events such as Macufe, Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, Moretele Park, Vaal Beach Party, SAMPRA Malebogwe Festival, Beer Meats Band (Lesotho), and Transnet Corporate Awards 2026.

“I want to leave a legacy in the entertainment industry as one of the top saxophonists. This is who I am, and I do not doubt that I’m still going to win awards. For now, I’m building a legacy for myself in the music industry. I will be performing at My Kasie Film Screening 2026 (MKFS26) at Saul Tsotetsi Sports Complex on November 6.
In fact, it is going to be a busy month for me because I’m also performing at Sharpeville Arts Precinct Library (C.A.S.E Screening). I also have a role in the C.A.S.E movie. I want to thank Ntate Joe Chakela for believing in me,” he said.
