Five injured in Vaal Triangle accident

Two in critical condition after early morning collision

Russel Meiring, ER24 Spokesperson, reports:
Five people were left injured early this morning after two vehicles collided on the R82 in Vereeniging.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found another service already in attendance. Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered a bakkie parked in the road while a light motor vehicle was found lying on its roof in the veld.
Paramedics assessed the patients and found that two had sustained critical injuries while three others had sustained moderate injuries. One of the critically injured patients had apparently been ejected from the light motor vehicle when it rolled multiple times.
The patients were treated for their injuries and the critically injured were provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The driver of the bakkie was assessed and found to have escaped injury. Local authorities will be investigating this matter further.
