An outright majority or nothing – Chabalala

Chabalala says a coalition with the DA is currently not on the books.

The DA mayoral candidate in Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM), Kingsol Chabalala, cast his vote at Mojalathuto Primary School in Evaton.

Addressing members of the media outside the school this afternoon, Chabalala said there is still hope for the disgraced municipality. Chabalala revealed that he has plans in place to restore the dignity of ELM residents.

When asked whether the DA was in coalition talks with other parties, he said a coalition is not in the books.

“An outright majority is the only thing that makes sense right now; we are not even thinking about going into a coalition.”

Chabalala said they are confident about getting an outright majority in these elections.

Recently, Chabalala delivered a six-point plan aimed at fixing the collapsing municipality.

The plan focuses on repairing and investing in infrastructure, ensuring reliable basic service delivery, ending nepotism and promoting equal opportunities, stimulating local economic growth, and creating a safe, business-friendly environment.

It also aims to restore public trust through accurate billing, empower the youth and ensure effective service delivery for all.
