Worker caught in conveyor belt

Vanderbijlpark man in critical condition

Russel Meiring, ER24 Spokesperson, reports:
A man was left in a critical condition this afternoon after he got caught in a conveyor belt at a company in the Vanderbijlpark area.
ER24 paramedics were called to the scene, where they found that the left side of the patient’s body had become caught in the conveyor and machinery.
Paramedics and on-site crew worked for more than an hour to set the man free.
Once freed, paramedics could examine the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.
Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated in an effort to stabilise his vital signs. He was then transported to Mediclinic Emfuleni for urgent treatment.
Local authorities will investigate the matter further.
