New station manager for Radio Azania

Dr Noluthando Motsoane takes the helm as Radio Azania Station Manager, marking a milestone for women's leadership in Vaal media.

VEREENIGING — Dr Noluthando Motsoane has reached a major milestone in her broadcasting career after being appointed as the new Station Manager of Radio Azania.

This exciting role is the latest chapter in a diverse career of television, psychology, mediation, public relations, mental health advocacy and community development.

Her television background includes working on productions with Rise Up Production, such as My First on SABC1 and Abazali, where she was a resident psychologist, alongside various guest TV appearances.

Dr Motsoane believes her multidisciplinary background gives her a unique perspective on communication and leadership.

“Psychology provides insight into human behaviour, emotional wellbeing and interpersonal relationships. Mediation calls for the ability to navigate disagreement and facilitate dialogue. Public relations requires strategic communication and stakeholder engagement,” she says.

She feels these disciplines blend naturally with broadcasting, helping stations understand their audiences and support presenters to deliver relevant programming.

Recognising the significance of her new role, Dr Motsoane pointed out that while women have made vital contributions to the media as journalists, producers and presenters, they remain underrepresented in senior organisational leadership.

“Our contributions belong in the rooms where decisions are made, and the future of broadcasting is shaped.”

Alongside her media work, Dr Motsoane is well known for her awards in mental health advocacy, women’s empowerment and community development. She is also the founder of the Journey to Self-Discovery Foundation, which leads counselling, trauma support and personal development initiatives.

Moving from facilitating difficult conversations on television to taking the helm at Radio Azania, Dr Motsoane’s journey marks an inspiring new chapter for women’s leadership in Vaal media.
