Pedestrian and driver hurt in R42 crash

The driver, a 25-year-old male, sustained a back injury and whiplash after his car rolled seven times after colliding with the pedestrian.

VANDERBIJLPARK. – Two men sustained moderate injuries early this morning after a vehicle hit a pedestrian on the R42, Barrage & Westinghouse in Vanderbijlpark in Gauteng.

The pedestrian who is believed to be 29 years old was hit after attempting to cross the freeway before 7am. The man sustained a head injury and fractures to his right arm and leg.

The driver, a 25-year-old male, sustained a back injury and whiplash after his car rolled seven times after colliding with the pedestrian.

The driver was taken Mediclinic Emfuleni and the pedestrian was transported to a nearby hospital to receive further medical care.
