Three traffic officers arrested for corruption

GAUTENG. – The Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane, applauded the arrest of three Gauteng Traffic Police officers this yesterday for corruption.

According to a statement, the three officers, attached to the compliance unit at Langlagte DLTC, were arrested for bribery involving R9000 positively found in their possession in a sting operation by the Hawks working closely with the Gauteng Department of Community Safety and Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC).

“I have always been advocating that we will deal harshly with any officer committing such illegal practice. Today’s arrests will send a strong message to other officers that corruption has no place within Law Enforcement Agencies,” said Malobane.

The three officers will appear in court on Monday.
