EVATON – EFF president Julius Malema has set his sights on Emfuleni, promising to take control of the troubled municipality and end criminal activities allegedly preventing residents from receiving services.
With just 10 days left before election day, Malema brought the red berets’ campaign to Dube Grounds in Evaton, where he addressed supporters at a community meeting on Monday.
Flanked by senior party leaders, Malema made it clear that the EFF wants to take the reins of Emfuleni Local Municipality.
“We want to take power in this municipality so that we can put a stop to all criminal activities that result in services not reaching our people,” he told the gathering.
The EFF leader was accompanied by Gauteng provincial secretary Commissar Moses Koma and the party’s head of presidency, Commissar Vuyani Pambo.
Also present were local party members, including EFF mayoral candidate for Emfuleni, Fighter Jeanette Maloka, and other party representatives.
Malema’s visit comes as political parties intensify their campaigns to win over voters ahead of the local government elections.
Emfuleni, which includes communities such as Evaton, Sebokeng and Vanderbijlpark, remains a key political battleground in the Vaal.
The EFF is hoping to convince residents that a change in political leadership could address the challenges affecting service delivery in the municipality.
