Two people sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious after two vehicles collided on the R500-route

Two people sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious after two vehicles collided on the R500 in Carletonville this afternoon (28 September).
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 15:35, they found a man walking around on the scene and a woman entrapped in the vehicle. The Carletonville fire brigade extricated the woman with the jaws of life.

“She was found to be in a serious condition and advanced life support interventions were initiated on the scene,” reports Ineke van Huyssteen, a spokesperson for ER24.

The woman was airlifted to Ahmed Kathrada hospital by the ER24 Oneplan medical helicopter for further medical care.

The man was found to have sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Carletonville hospital by another medical service on the scene.
The occupants of the other vehicle sustained no injuries. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for a full investigation.
