A woman, believed to be in her 20s, was killed last night on the R42 Barrage Road in Vanderbijlpark.

Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, reports that paramedics arrived on the scene to find the local authorities already in attendance.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the body of a woman lying on the side of the road. The bakkie that had hit her had stopped a short distance away.

Paramedics assessed the woman and found that she had sustained numerous injuries, leaving her in a critical condition.

She was treated for her injuries and provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, she was transported to the Sebokeng Provincial Hospital for further treatment.

While on route, the woman’s vital signs rapidly diminished. CPR and further advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated. Unfortunately, after a short time in hospital, the woman succumbed to her injuries.

Local authorities were on the accident scene for further investigations.
