Ill-equipped service providers continue to get tenders at ELM

The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) continues to use service providers whose contracts were terminated due to poor workmanship and failure to deliver services.

SEDIBENG. – The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) continues to use service providers whose contracts were terminated due to poor workmanship and failure to deliver services.

According to the Democratic Alliance’s (DA) Kingsol Chabalala who is the party’s Gauteng Constituency Head in Emfuleni North this was revealed by Gauteng Human Settlements and COGTA MEC, Uhuru Moiloa in a written reply to questions in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature recently.

“According to MEC Moiloa, 12 services providers had their contracts terminated in the 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18 financial years, due to poor workmanship and failure to deliver adequate services to Emfuleni residents.

“These companies have not yet been blacklisted and some of these service providers are still doing business with the municipality. This is unacceptable as these service providers have failed to provide quality services to the people of Emfuleni.”
