Two shot dead following robbery in Evaton

EVATON. – Police in Evaton are looking for members of the community who might have witnessed a robbery that happened on Thursday, March 31 at the Super Spar in Ester street Zone 3  after which a customer and another motorist were shot  dead by robbers who used their cars to flee the scene.

Police spokesperson captain Fikile Funda  says, “A group of  20 men entered the store at around 19:20  and held the staff and customers hostage. They pointed their fire arms at them and threatened to shoot them.They then started robbing customers off cellphones and jewellery.

“The group also seized airtime vouchers, money and liquor from  Spar Liquor. The suspects then went outside and shot dead a customer and hijacked his  black Opel Utility bakkie and further shot at another person next to the Spar main entrance and fled the scene.

The saps through the office of the cluster commander Major General Zodwa Molefe would like to make a humble plea to any person who witnessed or is a victim of the incident to come forward with any information that can help the police get to the bottom of the case.
