The 2nd Annual Vaal River City Marathon to take place at the Isak Steyl Stadium

Former Safa President Molefi Oliphant, who is also founder of the Oliphant Institute of Leadership, described last year’s Vaal River City Marathon as a great success. Last year’s Vaal River City Marathon attracted big names in the sporting fraternity, socialites and politicians.

VANDERBIJLPARK.- The 2nd Annual Vaal River City Marathon is scheduled to take place at the Isak Steyl Stadium in Vanderbijlpark on September 2.
This was revealed at the launch at the venue last Thursday.

Former Safa President Molefi Oliphant, who is also founder of the Oliphant Institute of Leadership, described last year’s Vaal River City Marathon as a great success.
Last year’s Vaal River City Marathon attracted big names in the sporting fraternity, socialites and politicians.

Midvaal Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Bongani Baloyi was one of the hundreds who participated in this historical marathon last year. Speaking at the launch, Oliphant said this year’s marathon will be bigger and better. The Oliphant Institute of Leadership will host this River City Marathon in conjunction with Gauteng Province the Department of Sports, the Emfuleni Local Municipality, Rand Water Vaal, Athletics Vaal Triangle and Sedgars Sports.

“I’m delighted to announcwe that we will be hosting another Vaal River City Marathon and we have already started with preparations to make this event a success. I want to thank all the stakeholders who made this event a success last year and I have no doubt we are going to make this year’s marathon a big success with the support of everyone.

The race will be divided into the following categories: 5km, 10km and 42 km; senior men, women, junior boys and girls and veteran men and women. Sedibeng Ster Sport will bring more details about the big names that will take part in this year’s Vaal River City Marathon. Oliphant urges all the Sedibeng people to come in numbers to support this marathon.
