Six-year-old girl perishes in fire

" The last thing we did for her was give her lunch and money for sweets. Had we known that it was he last day with us, we would have done a lot more for her."

SHARPEVILE. – Mamokete Metsing (6) from Thepiso phase1 lost her life in a fire at her home last week. Mamokete was a Grade R student at Assumpta Primary School in Sharpeville.

According to the father Malefane Metsing, Mamokete arrived home from school in the afternoon while he and his wife had taken another child to the hospital. ” I received a text from neighbours saying that there was an uncontrollable fire at my house and that they doubt they will be able to salvage anything. The fire is said to have taken a few minutes and when I got home, I was told that my daughter had died in the fire.”

Malefane says he is still reeling in shock following the incident. “We don’t even know what caused the fire. In my head, I still think that someone will just wake me up from this bad dream. My wife and I lost a diamond in our lives. The last thing we did for her was give her lunch and money for sweets. Had we known that it was he last day with us, we would have done a lot more for her.”

The devastated Father said that he hoped and prayed that no other child in the world dies in the manner which his daughter died.” I just want to ask for prayers because this time is not easy.” Mamokete will be buried this Saturday.
