Head-on collision leaves one dead, another seriously injured

VEREENIGING. – ER24 reported that a woman was killed and a man seriously injured this morning following a head-on collision between two light motor vehicles on the R59 under the Boy Louw Bridge in Vereeniging.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find one light motor vehicle lying on its roof in the road while the second vehicle was found upright in the centre median.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the body of a woman, believed to be in her 40s, lying trapped inside the vehicle found in the centre median. Unfortunately, the woman had already succumbed to her injuries. Nothing could be done for her and she was declared dead. Upon inspection of the vehicle found in the road, paramedics found a man lying inside in a serious condition. The man was extricated, treated for his injuries and thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
